Welcome to my personal website. I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Neuroscience department at the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria.
I am particulary interested in how functionally relevant neuronal microcircuits determine higher brain functions. Since most of the complex behaviour of neural networks depend on its synaptic design, my research has been devoted to study synaptic transmission with functional methods. These included path-clamp and fluorescence live imaging. In addition, I employ theoretical and computational approaches to simulate brain functions based on the data obtained experimentaly.
I collaborate in the GNU/Linux branch development of an open source programm for the analysis of electrophysiological signals based on C/C++ and Python (Stimfit, see in www.stimfit.org). Additionally, I contribute to the development of an open source mathematics computer environment based on Python (Sage, see in www.sagemath.org ).
