Discussion of ranking ------------------------- LNX86 (matlab on linux) gives better results than the PCWIN-versions XX-linux-gnu are results from Octave (version numbers of 2.x.y) these results seem to be very stable. Unlike the PC-based Matlab versions, no fluctuations due to version changes are observed. pcwin5.1.0.421, pcwin5.0.0.4069 Have the lowest total number of S20 errors. But at N=2, severe inaccurcies occured (probably implementation of x.^(1/N) was incorrect) Anyway, for N>2 the results seem to be best Due to this inaccaptable error, the implementation was changed and this advantages disappeared, too. pc_matcommideva MATCOM was developed by Mathtools, a former competitor of Mathworks. Since Mathtools was bought by Mathworks, MATCOM-MIDEVA is not available anymore. Seem to have had a very high accuracy, too. (C) Alois Schloegl Oct. 2002 email:
